Serra Club of St. Catharines

What is Serra?

Serra is recognized by the Vatican as the global lay apostolate for vocations in the Catholic Church.

Serra was aggregated to the Pontifical Work for Priestly Vocations in 1951 and its Objectives and Purposes are:

To foster and promote

  • vocations to the ministerial priesthood in the Catholic Church as a particular vocation to service, and to support priests in their sacred ministry;

  • To encourage and affirm vocations to consecrated religious life in the Catholic Church; and

  • To assist its members to recognize and respond in their own lives to God’s call to holiness in Jesus Christ and through the Holy Spirit.

Who are Serrans?

Since Serra’s founding in 1935 in Seattle, Washington, over 1,100 Serra clubs have been chartered in 46 countries around the world.

Today, Serra’s global membership is strong with over 14,000 members who are lay Catholic men and women of all ages and backgrounds who ensure the future of our Church by helping to create a “culture of vocations” in their diocese through activities and programs that help foster and promote vocations to the priesthood and religious life, all undertaken in full harmony with their local Bishop and Vocation Director.

Memorial & Special Intention Mass Cards

The names of the recipients of Serra Foundation Mass Cards are remembered at Masses celebrated in March, August and November.

MEMORIAL MASS CARDS – Families are comforted in their sorrow by the gift of a Memorial Mass where their loved one will be remembered at a special Mass celebrated by the Episcopal Advisor of the Serra Council for Canada/Serra Conseil Canadien.

SPECIAL INTENTION MASS CARDS – A wonderful way to honour someone – instead of the usual present for a birthday, get well, ordination, priest anniversary, wedding anniversary or other occasion – why not give that special person a Thinking of You or other special occasion Mass card- a unique gift with the knowledge that they will be remembered at a special Mass celebrated by the Episcopal Advisor of the Serra Council for Canada/Serra Conseil Canadien.

Family and friends of both those who send the Mass cards and the recipients of the Mass cards can join in and participate in the Serra Foundation Annual Card Mass at any time on YouTube and join in the prayers for the recipients of the Mass cards.
