I was born in Barquisimeto City, Lara State, Venezuela, on July 30th,
1984. My parents are Medarda Mora and Pablo Sanchez. I have one sister and
three brothers, Yesenia, Jonathan, Pablo, and Eliecer. We grew up in a family
with Christian and moral principles and values. I was baptized in 1988 and
received my first communion in 1996. Later in 2019, I was confirmed in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada, where I was prepared for the RCIA program. Now I am a
seminarian of the Diocese of St Catharines in the second year of theology at St
Peter´s Seminary in London, Ontario.
Respect my academic formation was in Venezuela, starting in 1989 the, elementary school until 1996; following the high school from 1996 until 2001. In 2002 I started my first career in Education at Pedagogical University, where I graduated in 2007 as Professor in Business Education. In 2008 I started my post-graduate studies at Fermin Toro University, where I graduated in 2011 as Magister Scientiarum in Management and Leadership in Education. After that, I decided to do something that I am passionate about, journalism. In 2012 I started my third career at Cecilio Acosta Catholic University, where I graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor in Social Communication (Journalism). All my university studies took place in Venezuela.
In 2008 I had my first job in Education in a Catholic School of religious priests “Piarist Priest” and it was in this place where I felt God´s call to the priesthood for the first time in my life but due fears and doubts I said no to that call and I resigned to my position in the school. Throughout the years, I continued working as a high school teacher but in the public school until 2011, when a friend of mine asked me to work part-time in another Catholic School running for the Blessed Sacrament Sisters in Venezuela, and I accepted. I worked in that school for three years, and I decided to resign because I wanted to spend more time on my journalism projects. However, working in that place helped me approach God and the Church. For the second time, I received the invitation from God to become a priest, which I said no again because I thought I was not the right person for such a beautiful vocation.
From 2015 to 2017, I worked as a Journalist, especially in Radio and Press as an announcer and writer. Due to Venezuela's complex political and social situation, I had to resign from my work as a journalist. I decided to move to Canada in April 2017 and claim protection, which I was accepted. I had to start from scratch in this great country, new language, culture, weather, and people. The beginning was tough for me, and in my loneliness, I approached God as my refuge and helper. At that moment in my life, I realized that God wanted something from me in this country, and it was when I decided to do a deep discernment to the priesthood and accept the invitation that God had offered me a while ago. While I was doing my discernment, I attended the English School and worked in many areas in Alberta and Ontario. At the beginning of 2020, I met Fr. Rico Passero and Bishop Gerard Bergie. I started a process of examination in the Diocese of St Catharines, and I was accepted as a seminarian in the summer of 2020. In September 2020, I started my formation to the priesthood at St Peter's Seminary in London. A lot of challenges due to the pandemic and the new lifestyle, but without a doubt one of the best decisions in my life.
