Jacob was raised Mennonite Brethren alongside his seven brothers and sisters. As he grew in his faith, he developed a deep understanding of the importance of the Eucharistic meal in Christian worship. In 2009 at 16, he was baptized at St. Ann’s Community Church. As he finished college, he discerned a call to pastoral ministry and began his studies to become a Mennonite Pastor. During his studies, he had the opportunity to explore the depth of Eucharistic theology and became convinced of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. He was received into full communion with the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil 2021 at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church in St. Catharines. On the Feast of Corpus Christi 2022 he discerned a call to continue his seminary studies as a Catholic. He is currently in his first year of philosophy at St. Philip’s Seminary in Toronto.
